BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Insurance companies are saying most of the damage they’ve seen is minor but the number of claims their expecting is much greater. Insurance agents are urging anyone whose vehicle was damaged during the winter storm to be patient as there will likely be a back-log of small claims and body shops will be very busy.
CBS42 spoke with an agency owner who de-bunked the rumor that if you damaged your car while driving on a closed road, you won’t be covered.
“I’ve heard that, but that’s not the case. If the car, if you wreck your car, all carries investigate the circumstances but by and large I think that would be a very minute exception for folks getting on a closed road.”- Pete Russell, Insurance Agent
Much of the damaged seen so far has been rear and front bumper damage from sliding into cars on the ice and missing side mirrors.
