BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The deadline for filing a claim for lots purchased at George Washington Carver Memorial Gardens is quickly approaching.
Those who apply will be added to the list of creditors in the bankruptcy filing.
The deadline to file is tomorrow Monday.
The cemetery filed for bankruptcy in late 2013.
Since then, people who bought plots at the cemetery worried their money and final resting place would be gone forever.
However, State Representative Juandalynn Givan, D-Birmingham, and local pastors are trying to help people with a financial state in the cemetery be counted as a creditor.
Those who wish to file a claim can do so by filling out a B-10 form, which can be found by clicking here.
After filling out the form, they should be mailed with a copy of their certificate or receipt of purchase to the Robert S. Vance Federal Building 1800 Fifth Avenue North Birmingham, Alabama 35203-2111.
The case number is 13-04509.
