Middle School student taken into custody for bringing homemade “firecracker” to school

Chilton County explosive device

CLANTON, Ala. (WIAT) – A Clanton Middle School student was taken into police custody on Friday, after he brought a modified “Play-Doh” container to school.

Clanton Police Capt. David Clackley described the device as “small” but “constructed in a manner in which it definitely should not have been at school.”

The device was found on the student early Friday morning at Clanton Middle School. The school was put on lockdown after it was found. The student accused of bringing the device to school was taken to a juvenile detention center.
