BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Neighbors in Enon Ridge are happy to see a plot of land that has been an eyesore for years finally cleaned.
City crews and students from Parker High School cut and cleared the Enon Ridge Pioneer Cemetery on February 6, 2013. The condition of the cemetery has troubled neighbors for years. They’ve pleaded with the city to do something.
“The city has promised that they would be out partners in keeping it cut and clean,” said Adrienne Reynolds, Enon Ridge Neighborhood President. The neighborhood is now looking to put up a fence and sign around the cemetery which is full of history.
Ownership of the cemetery has ping ponged over the years but those in Enon Ridge intend to take responsibility for it to ensure that those who are buried there maintain a decent final resting place.
