17-year-old assaulted while jogging in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Police in Tuscaloosa are looking for a suspect involved in an assault at Sokol Park.

According to Sgt. Dale Phillips with the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit, a 17-year-old girl was attacked and assaulted Sunday morning while jogging on a wooded trail.

She was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center and was treated for minor injuries and released.

Police say the victim was not sexually assaulted.

Officers searched Sokol Park for the suspect and were unable to locate him.

The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 18 and 20. Police say the suspect is believed to be between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet tall.

He is said to be wearing a blue and white shirt with a dark colored long sleeved undershirt.
