Man wanted in New York arrested in Birmingham


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Police in Birmingham arrested a fan wanted on two robbery charges in New York.

According to Lieutenant Sean Edwards with the Birmingham Police Department, the Birmingham Crime Reduction Team received information that Chauncey King, 31, was in Birmingham.

King is wanted on two counts of first-degree robbery in New York.

Initial reports indicated King was in Bessemer, but after officers searched the residence where he was believed to be staying, King was nowhere to be found.

While at the residence, officers discovered King was staying elsewhere.

He was taken into custody in the 700 block of 24th Street South.

King is being held in the Jefferson County Jail and is awaiting extradition.
