Missing Pelham girl found safe in California

PELHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A Pelham girl who was reported as missing Friday morning was found safe in California.  An Alabaster man was arrested in connection with her disappearance, according to the FBI.

The girl was reported missing Friday morning, and Pelham police gathered information that revealed she may have been with Ramon Nunez Cervantez in California.

Pelham police asked for assistance from the FBI and located Cervantes in Riverside, California.

Cervantes was spotted leaving a residence with the girl and getting into a vehicle Friday evening.

The Corona Police Department (CA) conducted a traffic stop, pulled over Cervantes and took him into custody without incident.

Cervantes is charged with interference with child custody, which is a state charge.

He is being held on $250,000 bond in Riverside County, California, at the Robert Presley Detention Center.

The girl was returned safely to her mother Sunday evening.
