Forestdale man arrested for trafficking marijuana

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Late Saturday evening, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Marcus Lamarr Ellington for Trafficking Marijuana, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Police arrived to his residence in the 1300 block of Devine Drive in the Forestdale area to investigate a vehicle theft from a repossession agent. The agent reported that he was at the residence to pick up a truck when a man came from the home, uploaded the truck, and drove off. He had indicated that the person who took the vehicle came from the house. It’s believed the suspect had taken the truck to a hiding place and then returned to the residence on foot.

When deputies arrived at the door, 39-year-old Marcus Lamarr Ellington responded to the deputies at the door. He told them that the suspect did not live at the residence and he had already left the scene. When deputies were allowed in to search the residence, they discovered cocaine, prescription drugs, over four pounds of marijuana, a shotgun, a handgun and cash. Ellington was then arrested and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $116,000. The original suspect was not located.
