CLANTON, Ala. (WIAT) — The seventh grader accused of bringing an explosive device to school in Chilton County will be placed in the Chilton County Alternative Program for one year.

Police say the device was found on Feb. 7 at Clanton Middle School. They say it was filled with pyrotechnic powder and bird shot.

The Board of Education approved the move to place the student in the alternative program after it was recommended by the superintendent.
