Georgia prison escapee in Alabama

NEW HOPE, Ala. (WIAT) — Police in North Alabama spent much of the day Wednesday on the hunt for an escaped inmate. Chad Dasher broke out of jail in Savannah, Georgia last month.

He is said to have an extensive rap sheet with many crimes against law enforcement. He was spotted Tuesday in New Hope, Alabama, which is in Madison County. Early Wednesday morning, Dasher took deputies on a chase after they tried to make a traffic stop.

Dasher got out on foot after the stolen vehicle he was driving got stuck in the mud. Deputies believe Dasher may be making his way back to Georgia. He escaped last month with another inmate, but he was captured in Texas last week.
