OAK MOUNTAIN, Ala. (WIAT) — Oak Mountain State Park’s trails will be getting a bit of a facelift in the coming months thanks to a $60,000 grant awarded by Governor Robert Bentley.
A 2-mile-long “Thunder Flow Trail” will be added to provide a link to biking trails in the park.
“Alabama has wonderful state parks that are becoming even better through the contributions of many organizations and volunteers,” Bentley said. “I commend the cooperative effort taking place at Oak Mountain State Park.”
The Birmingham Urban Mountain Pedalers and the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will be tasked with building the trails, which will include side paths and some jumps and drops.
