BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), heart disease costs Americans more than $1 billion a year.
This includes the cost of healthcare, medications and lost productivity.
Now, UAB is looking to lower the costs and numbers by arming people with knowledge, which was the theme at Friday’s Recreation Health Fair.
In addition to the health screenings for blood pressure and cholesterol, those who attended had a chance to hear the latest information on heart healh.
