BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A Pell City man arrested on Feb. 19 admitted to five burglaries, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Erron Guyton, 24, admitted to numerous burglaries in Corner, Warrior and Johns. He’s charged with five counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree theft of property and three counts of second-degree theft of property.
Authorities launched an investigation in late January after a string of burglaries were reported in northern and western Jefferson County. Detectives found Guyton was trying to sell or pawn stolen items at a pawn shop in Forestdale.
Chief Deputy Randy Christian says deputies arrived at the pawn shop but Guyton fled the scene before they arrived.
Christian says warrants for burglary and theft were obtained for Guyton on Jan. 27, 2014.
Information led them to Guyton’s mother’s apartment in Pell City last Wednesday, where he was taken into custody.
Guyton is in the Jefferson County Jail on $156,000 bond.
