JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The wait in line for car tags will soon be shorter for residents of Jefferson County.
Governor Robert Bentley has signed into law new legislation that will now allow cities within the county limits to issue tags to people who are renewing them. State representative Paul DeMarco of Homewood sponsored the legislation. He says it should be the key to resolving the backlog once and for all.
Vestavia Hills is expected to be the first city to issue tags, beginning April 1st.
