MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — Abortion laws in Alabama could become stricter.
A committee passed four bills that increase the restrictions around abortion. Now, heading to the house floor, are bills that would require a woman to wait 48 hours before getting an abortion, and ban abortions after finding a fetal heartbeat.
While pro-life supporters cheered, other lawmakers say, the fetal heartbeat bill would break federal law and would be struck down in court.
