Class to become a Storm Spotter being held

SARDIS CITY, Ala. (WIAT) — When severe weather strikes, most of us run for cover. But, there are some people who head straight for the storm. They’re storm spotters, and they’re properly trained. As we head into the spring severe weather season, the National Weather Service is putting out a call for anyone who’s interested in becoming a storm spotter. They are holding a class in Etowah County next week. It will be held at the Sardis City Community Center on Monday, March 3rd, at 6p.m.

Storm spotting classThe class is recommended for anyone interested in weather, particularly severe storms. You can learn about the characteristics of these storms. More importantly though, you’ll learn how to report the storms you see to the National Weather Service.
