MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — Alabama offers mountains, beaches, and a lot of things in between. But the most visited attraction last year is truly out of this world. According to the State Tourism Department, more than half a million people visited the Space and Rocket Center last year.
The Huntsville hot spot is a favorite for school groups, everyday folks, and even film sets like “Space Camp: Beyond the Stars. Shows like “The Amazing Race” and “Little People, Big World” have also used the facility. The Birmingham Zoo takes second place for visitors, with 574,000. In third was the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail with 531,000.
The list also included: the McWane Science Center, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and the Gulf Coast.
