BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Crystal Clowdus, a former teacher at Susan Moore High School, entered a guilty plea for inappropriate contact with a student.

She’s currently being booked into the Blount County jail for six months and will not be allowed to teach in Alabama.

Based on the investigation, there was no physical contact between Clowdus and the student. However, she did send nude photos.

The family of the student is aware of the plea and is happy with the result.

According to Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey, the principal was aware of a situation three weeks before the parent of the victim.

The student’s parent went to the principal and was told they wanted to keep it in house. Nothing was done for several days and then the parent went to the DA’s office.

Casey there is a serious problem with under reporting in the state and believes there are other instances in Blount County.

Clowdus will also have to register as a sex offender and will be placed on house arrest after her release.

The investigation into the school not reporting the incident is being handled by the Alabama Bureau of Investigations.
