One Class At A Time: Centreville Middle School

CENTREVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — Centreville Middle School teacher Alice Barton was presented with her a $1,000 check as a part of the One Class At A Time grant program right before the snow storm that paralyzed the area in late January.

Barton says the award is very much appreciated.

Since funding has been reduced for classroom supplies, she’s planning to use the grant money to buy headphones for the 5th grade computer lab.

“Our computer programs will let them hear what is going on in the lesson,” Barton said. “Without the headphones, it’s hard for us to do that or that we would just have all the computers blaring at the same time. The headphones will help those struggling readers.”

CBS42’s co-sponsors for the One Class At A Time project are Pepsi and America’s First Financial. To apply, click here.
