Grocery store prices potentially on the rise

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Winter weather, and California’s severe drought, could drive up prices for some of your favorite grocery items. Milk prices could rise as much as $.50 a gallon in the next few months. Experts blame rising demand in China and cold weather across the US is making it more expensive for farmers to keep dairy cattle.

Beef is also about to get more expensive. The USDA says fresh cuts of beef could reach an all-time high of more than $5 a pound. Dry conditions in California could also affect fruit and vegetable prices.
