NTSB releases preliminary report on New Year’s Day plane crash

ALABASTER, Ala. (WIAT) — The National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report on a plane crash in Alabaster. The single engine plane went down on New Year’s Day. The pilot suffered minor injuries. No flight plan was filed for the flight from Bessemer to Shelby County.The pilot ran into engine trouble while flying at 2,600 feet and crashed into the backyard of a home.

The report says there was fuel in the plane and the weather was also calm and clear.

More investigation is needed to find the cause of the engine problem.
