Calera MS student sent to detention center after making threat

CALERA, Ala. (WIAT) — A Calera Middle School student is being sent to juvenile detention after being charged with making a terrorist threat.

His classmates are being credited with preventing a tragedy.

They heard the eighth grader had threatened to bring a gun to school, they told their parents who in turn told the school’s principal.

Once he found out about the student’s alleged plan, he brought in the Calera Police Department.

The police department conducted an investigation and decided to detain the students before classes began Wednesday.
