SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding the person responsible for nearly two dozen car break-ins.
The supposed suspect is accused of breaking into 19 cars along Cahaba Valley Road Thursday. Most of the cars were unlocked.
Credits cards, checkbooks, cash, computers, phones and guns were all taken from unlocked cars.
One car with the keys left inside was also stolen.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says there are simple steps people can take to protect their property.
Firstly, it’s important to remember to lock your car.
Also, hide items in your truck or keep them out of sight.
To be safe, they encourage people to take personal items with them and make a conscious effort to not leave them in the car.
