BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Friday, March 7th, is National Cereal Day, so as you dig into your bowl of Corn Flakes, Cheerios or Cap’n Crunch, enjoy some fun facts about the beloved breakfast food.

Dr. James Caleb Jackson is credited with creating the first cold breakfast cereal in the 1800’s. It had to be soaked in milk overnight before it was edible. Corn Flakes were accidentally invented when the Kellogg Brothers messed up a batch of granola.
