1 arrested in Tuscaloosa on theft charge

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Police in Tuscaloosa arrested a 21-year-old on a theft charge following an incident in a Dollar General parking lot Sunday evening.

Trevoris Sheppard, 21, was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree theft of property.

Tuscaloosa Police Department spokesman Sgt. Brent Blankley says Sheppard and another man approached a woman in the parking lot who was putting groceries in her car.

One of the two took her wallet and continued running through the lot.

Law enforcement and a tracking K-9 found the suspects at Winding Creek Apartments and took them to the Tuscaloosa Police Department for questioning.

One of the suspects was released without any charges.

Sheppard remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on $15,000 bond.
