Greene County drowning

GREENE COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Authorities in Greene County are continuing to investigate a possible drowning at Lock 7.

A 2014 Dodge Charger drove off a boat ramp with two people inside Sunday afternoon. State troopers say two brothers were out driving the new car when the accident occurred. The car crashed through a guardrail and into the Black Warrior River.

Family members on the scene say the two men in the car are Calvin Gray and Bryant Smith. Smith was able to swim to safety, but Alabama Marine Police, state troopers and other authorities are still looking for the other Gray.

Smith was taken to a hospital for treatment, and the family says he is awake and doing well.

The search began Sunday afternoon but authorities eventually had to call off the search.

CBS42 will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
