Police still searching for suspect in Sunday homicide

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham police are still searching for the suspect believed to be responsible for a fatal Sunday shooting at Harrison Park.

Timothy Lamar Austin, 23, was shot in the head multiple times late Sunday morning. Officers found Austin lying on his back in the park suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Birmingham Police Department spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards says the suspect is believed to be a 6-foot tall, 150-pound black male.

Edwards says it’s believed the suspect was also in the park at the time of the shooting. He was wearing black jogging pants, a white t-shirt and a black skull cap with a ball on it.

He fled the park on foot before getting into a silver 90s model Chevy Malibu with a busted driver’s side passenger window covered with tape.
