BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham city councilors are closer to deciding the fate of an area business.
City councilors will conduct a show-cause hearing Tuesday for the Good Friends Chinese and Seafood Restaurant in West End.
They are responsible for deciding if the restaurant’s business license should be taken away.
Community leaders and residents say the place needs to be shut down because it’s a threat to the neighborhood.
The owner, Chun Hin Ching, is facing attempted murder charges.
Police say he shot at a customer when she complained about finding a bug in her food.
A judge will eventually decide if Ching’s passport should be taken away.
Councilor Sheila Tyson believes Ching could be a flight risk.
The hearing will happen during Tuesday’s city council meeting, which starts at 9:30 a.m.
