BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – St. Patrick’s Day will be observed on Monday, March 17, 2014. However, many places will hold events over the weekend since the holiday falls on a weekday.
- March 15th
The Black Market Bar and Grill in Five Points will hold its St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on Saturday, March 15. The restaurant plans to open at 8 a.m. for the yearly Guinness toast.
The 30th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade presented by Rev Birmingham and Five Points South
-Parade procession will begin at the Alys Stephens Center, travel through Five Points South and end at Cobb Lane. (Parade starts at 1:30 p.m.)
-Live Irish entertainers Hooley & Marc Gunn, Drake School of Irish Dance and Alabama Pipes and Drums will perform for guests at various venues from 11a.m.-6p.m.
-Participating restaurants and bars will also provide St. Patrick’s Day-themed food and drink specials all weekend, March 14th-17th
World of Beer will get an early start to the St. Patrick’s Day festivities on Saturday. The St. Patrick’s Day Beerfest will start Saturday at 7 a.m. The bar plans to serve green beer all the way until 2 a.m.
Ozan Vineyard and Cellars in Calera is hosting a St. Patrick Celebration. Wear your green and join the Patrick’s for a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at Ozan Winery. Complimentary festive bites and wine tasting available. Souvenir wine tasting is $9, including an Ozan wine glass and 10-12 wines, a full flight. They also are giving a complimentary wine tasting of any 3. Event times: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

McWane Science Center will holding a day full of St. Patrick’s Day-themed science experiments.
Admission is $13 for adults and $9 for kids.
Gardendale Martha Moore Public Library is showing a classic St. Patrick’s Day movie.
Admission is free and the movie will begin at 6 p.m. on March 17, 2014, at the library.
