VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (WIAT) — Education funding was on the minds of voters as they headed to the polls in Vestavia, Tuesday. With all boxes reporting and a vote of 1,715 to 163, the city approved the renewal of a property tax that started back in 1990.
The $10.5 million tax was set to expire in 2017. Tuesday’s vote will keep the tax the same, and the money will be used to fund Vestavia City Schools.
