24-year-old arrested, charged with murder in Sunday shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A 24-year-old man is in custody and charged with capital murder in connection with a fatal shooting at Harrison Park.

Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards says Vada Floyd was arrested Thursday in the shooting death of 23-year-old Timothy Austin.

Austin was shot in the head multiple times late Sunday morning. Officers found Austin lying on his back in the park suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Floyd is being transferred to the Jefferson County Jail and will be held without bond.
