CHILDERSBURG, Ala. (WIAT) — After weeks of searching, the body of Steve Tripp was found Wednesday night close to a boat ramp by the River Walk subdivision, near Childersburg.

Shaddix Murphy, Coroner for Talladega County, confirms with CBS42 that Tripp’s remains were located 3 miles away from where the original accident happened. He says that teenagers fishing at the boat loading ramp first discovered Tripp’s body. Murphy says Tripp had blunt force trauma from the crash, and that he died from drowning.

Steve Tripp went missing after his boat crashed on the Coosa River on February 16th. Marine Police have searched the area where the boat broke apart, near the Highway 280 Bridge. A second man, who was also on the boat with Tripp, was rescued and taken to UAB hospital.
