“You’re It!” campaign takes aim at ending childhood obesity

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Alabama has the 4th highest childhood obesity rate in the country. That roughly translates into 9 overweight children for every classroom. But Tuscaloosa City schools and Brown Bag PR are teaming up to do something about it with the “You’re It!” campaign.

“You’re It!” kicked off Wednesday at Arcadia Elementary School with a pep rally, and the introduction of the program’s mascot, “Tag” the monkey. It’s a campaign to get students and parents onboard with healthy and active lifestyles.
