BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Drivers in Birmingham should ger ready for a little more stop-and-go traffic.
More construction could be headed to Highway 280 to make room for a flyover.
The Blue Lake Drive exit from Highway 280 westbound will be closed and replaced with a new connection to Grandview Parkway.
The change will make room for a flyover to eliminate the traffic signal where drivers turn left to get on I-459 South, which many say is the cause for delays.
The flyover project is still in the design stages, is still in the design stages, but work on the new roadway will begin in about a year.
