BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Carly’s Law has been a hot topic in Montgomery for a while. The name applies to a bill that allows for an oil extract of the marijuana plant to be used for medicinal purposes.
Under the bill, the oil would allow physicians to legally prescribe the oil.
The idea is for it to be used to help people suffering from debilitating seizures.
However, there’s strong opposition to the bill, because of resistance to the idea of medical marijuana in Alabama.
CBS42 spoke with Dustin Chandler, the father of the young girl the bill was named for, and he gave an update on the bill’s progress and why he believes it’s so important.
