Some cities seeing reduced roadside litter

TALLADEGA, Ala. (WIAT) – Several communities in East Alabama are reporting success in cutting down on the amount of roadside litter.

Budget concerns have forced Jefferson County to cut roadside litter removal, but things are looking up in St. Clair and Talladega counties.

Talladega city leaders disbanded a consolidated city dump.

That money allowed them to pay four city workers to remove debris.

Jefferson County operates its own dumps, and at one point contracted with outside counties to take its garbage.
