2012 Tuscaloosa case shows danger of throwing bricks off bridge

Tuscaloosa brick case

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – Incidents like the ones that are happening on Red Mountain Expressway are very dangerous. It’s something one Tuscaloosa woman knows all about.

In 2012, Melissa Jones was seriously hurt when two teenagers threw a brick from an interstate overpass. It went through her windshield. Jones suffered several broken bones and a collapsed lung. Last month, the teens charged with throwing the brick pleaded guilty. Because they were granted youthful offender status, their punishment is confidential.
