BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A vote at the Birmingham City Council on Tuesday could determine the fate of the old Carraway Hospital. Councilor William Parker shared his proposed plans during a community meeting. His plans include buying the property and creating municipal offices, and retail opportunities. He’s estimating the cost would be between $40 and $60 million.
Parker wants the Norwood community to flood the Mayor’s office and those of his fellow councilors to express their support for his proposal. The item is on the City Council agenda Tuesday. The meeting begins at 9:30 am.
