CHICAGO, Ill. (WIAT) — New research from the University of Chicago shows the husband is more likely to play the lead role in a happy marriage. More than 900 couples, averaging just under 40 years together, took part in the study.
Researchers found that the husbands with high levels of positivity reported less conflict in their relationship. The women’s health had little impact on the relationship, but the men’s health did. The study also finds that marital issues occur when spouses are critical of the other. According to the research, the key to a long term marriage is a happy and healthy husband.
