Pitt’s attorney asks judge to drop probation violation charge

Matt Pitt (Jefferson County Sheriff's Office)

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — A popular evangelist accused of impersonating a police officer isn’t giving up hope that he will get out of jail soon.

Matt Pitt’s attorneys filed another request with the judge asking that his client’s probation violation charge be dropped.

If the judge grants the request, Pitt would be able to post bond.

Pitt has been in the Shelby County Jail since August of 2013.
