BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — If you are heading out of town this spring break, be prepared for a lot of traffic. Clay Ingram with AAA of Alabama says this is shaping up to be one of the biggest travel seasons they’ve seen in several years.

“The last couple of months has been really, really busy for our travel agents. They’ve been staying busy, they’ve been working Saturdays, their phones have been ringing off the hook literally. Even for spring break we don’t typically get a lot of the last minute type bookings but this year we’ve had a lot of it,” Clay Ingram said.

Ingram says 80 to 90 percent of people who have spring break destinations will be driving there so he suggests planning ahead, leaving early, and giving yourself as much extra time as possible.

If you haven’t made spring break plans yet but you still want to find a sunny destination, there is still time and plenty of places to stay. We found a listing of just about all the available condos and hotels in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, just click here.
