Turning to tutoring to help your kids

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Are your children struggling with their school work? Experts say students are often more receptive to teaching instruction from a fresh outside source, like a tutor; especially if they’re frustrated with the situation with their teachers, and even parents.

The first step is doing an initial assessment to determine the specific needs of your child. There is still hope to help kids this school year.

“We’ve got a good 2 and a half months left almost, it’s really important to not let the gaps grow wider, we still can influence those last grades of the year, but more importantly, if there is a remediation need, we can start getting caught up now.” - Cathy Parrill, Sylvan Learning Center

Experts say, the specific instruction and schedule is individualized for each student, from tutoring for one subject, one day a week, to multiple subjects, every day of the week. The initial consultation at many tutoring businesses is free.
