Wilford’s attorney asks for lower bond

Wilford case

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) – Sommer Wilford is still in jail on charges of reckless murder. Now she is trying to get a judge to reduce her $300,000 bond for the death of her 20-month old son. Wilford’s next court date is April 2nd. Her attorney filed a motion to reduce bond on March 3rd. Attorney Kenneth Moore says the bail is too high and that Wilford is not a danger to the community.

He also says she has strong support from her family and is not financially able to pay the bond. Wilford was arrested February 28th after her son was found inside a burning vehicle in Alabaster. Witnesses say she did not tell police or emergency crews that her child was inside the car.
