Groundbreaking for new intermodal facility

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — It’s another sign of the magic city’s growth. Construction starts Friday on Birmingham’s new intermodal facility. The $30 million facility on Morris Avenue will house the Birmingham Jefferson Transit Authority, Greyhound buses, and Amtrak.

There will also be a pedestrian bridge connecting the hub with Railroad Park and Regions Field. The design process on that is now underway.
