BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — It’s a classic game with a big twist. Children’s of Alabama put together a life sized Candy Land Friday. It took up almost an entire floor in the hospital.
Volunteers and hospital staff manned Candy Land themed booths that children visited as they made their way through the game. Each booth had an activity like a Play-Doh project or blowing bubbles.
The point of the big game was for kids to have fun of course but also had some big health benefits.
“Just getting them up and out of bed is great for gross motor skills advancement, playing with Play-Doh helps fine motor skills, I’ve learned playing with bubbles is a deep breathing exercise,” Wynne Speir with Children’s of Alabama said.
