Lanes closed for pavement repairs on I-65 South

HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has announced that, weather permitting, there will be a double lane closure this weekend, until Monday, March 24 at 5 a.m.

Two inside (left) lanes and shoulder of I- 65 southbound will be closed just south of the I-459 entrance ramps leading onto I-65 southbound, for concrete pavement repairs. The I-65 southbound outside (right) lane will remain open to traffic.

Work in this area has been scheduled during this weekend due to the repairs that require the two I-65 southbound inside (left) thru traffic lanes to be closed, and because the extended time required to remove the deteriorated concrete pavement

Anyone planning to travel along southbound I-65 is advised to consider using U.S. 31 southbound as an alternate route detour. The pavement work is expected to cause major delays along I-65 southbound and the southbound ramps merging from I-459 onto I-65 southbound.
