Birmingham police investigating fatal stabbing in Ensley

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Police in Birmingham are investigating a stabbing in Birmingham that left on person dead in Ensley.

Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards says officers were called to the 300 block of 14th Street in Ensley around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

They found a man lying on his side suffering from multiple stab wounds to the back and stomach.

He received treatment on the scene but was pronounced dead.

Edwards says police have detained a person of interest for questioning.
