GADSDEN, Ala. (WIAT) — A protest over US immigration policy ends with seven people behind bars. The group chained themselves to the front doors of the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and was arrested after deputies told them to disperse.
The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office says the group chose the detention center as a point of protest because of its relationship with immigration and customs enforcement.
A total of 7 people, three men and four women, were arrested for failure to disperse and resisting arrest. They were then booked into the Etowah County Detention Center on $1500 bond each.
