Matt Pitt to be released from jail in April, attorney says

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Matt Pitt, a popular youth evangelist who started The Basement ministry, is expected to be released from the Shelby County Jail sometime in April, according to his attorney, Brian Ritchey.

“I can confirm that Matt is expected to get out of jail sometime in April,” Ritchey said. “It is our hope that we can get him out before Easter.”

Pitt was sentenced to serve 10 months in jail on a police impersonation charge.

He’s been in the Shelby County Jail since August on a probation violation charge.

Once released, he will remain out on bond until his scheduled court date.
