Thomas May sentence in judge’s hands

OPELIKA, Ala. (WIAT) — It’s now up to a judge to make the final decision as to what should happen to convicted murderer, Thomas May. May was found guilty of the 2011 murder of his mother-in-law. He opened fire on the campus of Southern Union Community College in Opelika.

May’s wife, her grandmother, and his daughter were injured in the shooting. A jury recommended life in prison Thursday. A circuit court judge can either accept the decision, or sentence May to death
